Church Online

January 17th, 2011 by Matt Haff

While we may not be reaching much internationally we are reaching across the nation after only 3 weeks of being publicly announced. We do have some that join us from Sweden, United Kingdom, Japan and China the majority of our attendance are from all across the US. Many of these people have not been to church in 5-15 years, usually because they had a bad experience, felt unwanted, etc. Whatever the reason, experiencing church online from the comfort of their home opens a lot of doors. It allows people to be very open while not having to feel judged by others.

Other churches think that it’s expensive and out of reach, when really any church can do it no matter what their budget. Thanks to ChurchOnline.org a platform that was developed by LifeChurch.tv and will be released publicly soon.

If you haven’t experienced church online for yourself I’d strongly recommend doing so! Join us Sundays 11am & 6pm EST.

12Stone Church has launched our online campus! The first service will be this Sunday Oct 31st at 6pm EST. We were one of the churches that partnered with Lifechurch.tv and are using the new ChurchOnline.org. Soon ChurchOnline.org will be open to the public and I would strongly recommend that if you’re looking to do an online campus to check into this new platform. Join us this Sunday and see what you think! Just a little teaser…

Must Attend Conferences

June 19th, 2010 by Matt Haff

Catalyst

Many of you have probably heard of Catalyst but have you ever attended? I know it’s not about web or social media, or online video, or anything that I normally discuss on here… It’s about leadership, moving the church forward, igniting a revolution, building great leaders. I believe it is important that we instill leadership values into ourselves and our team. It also helps to have a vision as a whole of where the church is going. This is why at 12Stone® Church we get tickets for our entire staff, and I do think that it has an effect on how we work together.

An Event Apart

I haven’t been able to attend one yet but I’m hoping to sign on for the one in San Diego this year. Every year since they started I’ve wanted to go but haven’t had the money. It is one of the most expensive events for web developers, designers, etc. This is one of the more advanced conferences so if you’re just starting off this probably isn’t the one for you. But if you’ve been in the game for a few years and want to push yourself…this is where you want to be. Become a fan of them on Facebook and get an additional $100 off with discount code: AEAFBAEA

An Event Apart is an intensely educational two-day learning session for passionate practitioners of standards-based web design. If you care about code as well as content, usability as well as design, An Event Apart is the conference you’ve been waiting for. Your conference pass includes admission to all fourteen sessions at the two-day conference; breakfast, hot lunch, and snacks on both days; access to the opening night party; and a bag of swag.

M2Live

I had the opportunity to attend M2Live last year and it was a very affordable conference with great speakers such as John Saddington, Tony Steward, Jason Reynolds and more! The event is based around web, communications, social media, etc.

If you are a church leader or volunteer interested in learning how to develop an effective social media strategy, create a more appealing and usable church website, or would like to grow your ministry using web technology, M2LIVE Orlando is the event for you!

iPhone 4 – Finally Here

iPhone 4 – Finally Here

June 8th, 2010 by Matt Haff

So, I’m sure many of you were watching WWDC 10 yesterday and drooling over all the new features that the new iPhone has.

[Begin Rant] The one thing that really irks me about it is that on top of the $30/month we already have to pay for unlimited data, we will now have to pay an extra $20/month if we want to be able to tether. AT&T really bugs me, if it wasn’t for the iPhone I would have left them years ago, I honestly believe it’s the only thing that’s keeping them in the positive. [End Rant]

I’m really excited about the HD Video recording, as well as the native Netflix app that will be coming. My biggest question for anyone out there is… With the new capabilities of the iPhone 4, do you think it will be possible to have church online mobile? Second part to that question, would it need to be an iPhone App? This is something that as web developers make our job harder, any new technology that comes out, any new platform or internet browser and we have to make sure that our websites work and look good on them.

I know that I will be pre-ordering it on June 15th, will you?
